These things have led to the downfall of many addicts and alcoholics.
One of the most important things anonymity provides is a safe environment that allows you to open up to others, and you won’t feel as if you are being judged. Sometimes people are not comfortable discussing issues in a public setting or they don’t like to discuss things with those who might not have a good understanding of what recovery means, and this is especially true for those who are new in recovery. People often like to ensure their identities won’t be disclosed to people outside the meeting, and it helps them feel safe, builds trust and it helps people heal when they are able to share with others in a comfortable environment.
Regardless of how you feel, it is a personal choice when it comes to embracing anonymity. When it comes to getting sober, there is no wrong or right path to follow. You want to find what you are most comfortable with and go from there because that will work the best.
