In a lot of cases, the intervention consisted of a family member reading a number of letters aloud. Letters usually have a recognizable structure. There is comforting research, but there is also research showing that confrontation works best when the addict is a regular and heavy drug user. Even in cases that are to be difficult to treat, interventions has helped, so there is ample evidence that they can affect addicts’ lives.
